Delayed, with final destination, and a love for design in common, we became acquainted.

Finally boarded, the flight wasn’t full, and the seat next to me was vacant. I motioned for the flight attendant to ask if Ms. Mothermade could come up and sit next to me. Since she has a hispanic name, the attendant asked a nearby Mexican to join me.

I guess the attendant and surrounding passengers’ surprised reaction was common for the born-in-Korea-Hispanic-named-with-a-Southern-accent blogger.

She is definitely the first Asian American I’ve ever met with a Southern accent, let alone admitting to working in a Cracker Barrel.nycdesignerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04913897522696843538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-181953727519479153.post-31942843091273189902008-02-09T19:38:00.000-06:002008-02-09T19:38:00.000-06:00From my own personal experience, I believe your ch...From my own personal experience, I believe your children will be as comfortable as any child can be in a loving home. A strong loving bond, regardless of race, is fundamental.

I think if anything, it is important to expose them to all cultures and allow them to enjoy being themselves, as individual as they are.

I've always loved the Schoolhouse Rock song, “The Great American Melting Pot.” As a child, I found comfort in that song.mothermadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15805762605100898914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-181953727519479153.post-83916024634214095682008-02-09T19:17:00.000-06:002008-02-09T19:17:00.000-06:00I also found your blog through Holt Magazine. 11 ...I also found your blog through Holt Magazine. 11 months ago, we adopted our daughter from China. She is 4.5 years old.

I have Taiwanese friends who call themselves ABC (American Born Chinese). We laugh when we say that our daughter is CBA (Chinese Born American)

We live in the Atlanta area, and have a large support group of families with children adopted from China. As she grows up, I hope our daughter is comfortable being "CBA".

What do you think?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-181953727519479153.post-73662012862423695682008-02-09T14:38:00.000-06:002008-02-09T14:38:00.000-06:00Hi there... My hubby, 2 kids & I are currently waiting to be matched with a child from Thailand through Holt (it's our first adoption), so I was very interested in checking out your blog. We are on the skin-surface quite "white" but have lots of international connections/loves/history and live in a very diverse community, but I have lots of fears and questions along with the excitement about our child's future with us. : ) Anyway, thanks for sharing with us as you keep going on your own journey. It's very insightful.Melissa Enshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13150144883345686275noreply@blogger.com
